Consafe Engineering have secured a contract from BP for the design, fabrication and installation of blast resistant buildings to replace existing on-site facilities at the Wytch Farm onshore oil field, in Dorset, England.
Designed to withstand severe blast overpressure levels of up to 2.2 Bar, the buildings will provide high levels of protection for site personnel.
Now under construction at Consafe’s East Tullos Industrial Estate facility, the four modules range from 50 square metres to 200 square metres.
As a further safety measure, the finished steel buildings are designed to be assembled on site without any welding or hotwork. Consafe will undertake the installation in the spring.
Consafe’s General Manager, Graeme Baird, said: “The BP contracts add approximately £1.9 million to our order book and contribute to a strong start to a year in which the prospects in the modular construction market are encouraging.”
Employing around 100 in Aberdeen, Consafe is part of the McNulty Group, owned by Zoom Enterprises, a major and fast-growing Indian investment company with diverse interests.
