Living Quarters Extensions Consafe’s modular designs are particularly suitable for extending existing offshore facilities - whether or not the original quarters was constructed using Consafe's modules. The ability to construct large sections onshore and test them prior to shipment and installation significantly reduces the need for onsite completion work. The following projects have been undertaken by Consafe either by a pre-assembled single lift extension or in-place assembly using the platform crane.
Total Fina Elf 'Dunbar' Platform extension Total approached Consafe with a view to developing a concept for the refurbishment and extension of their Dunbar PLQ. Restricted offshore bed capacity along with overall weight restrictions resulted in the six level blast resistant (1 Bar) extension being built and installed as a single lift, self-sufficient structure and suspended off the existing platform. The H120 fire rated facility was assembled from 12 large modular units at Aberdeen Harbour and incorporated a new HVAC system, water-makers, catering and laundry facilities, cabins, an internal stair and a lift. It was completed in 2002.
BP ETAP Extension to PLQ Having previously designed and constructed the ETAP PLQ for BP in the North Sea, BP approached Consafe to develop a design for an extension to that facility. Consafe was therefore ideally placed to devise and engineer this project.
Consafe's innovative design solution was developed and constructed as a multilevel extension that was suspended from the elevation of the existing PLQ building - without occupying any of the existing deck space and without requiring any shutdown of the existing facility.
Conoco Viking PLQ extension Originally built by Consafe in 1989, this LQ had previously been relocated by Conoco onto another platform and now required expansion to accommodate continuing field requirements. A total of 12 modules were designed and built by Consafe providing the existing living quarters with a considerable internal upgrade and an increase in its overall capacity. The helideck was also extended. The total project duration - from concept to completion - was 24 weeks.
