| Chevron Alba North PLQ |
This 2200 tonne living quarters and helideck was designed and built by Consafe. The EPC contract (Engineer Procure Construct) required the provision of accommodation for 144 personnel within a stainless steel envelope (Super Duplex) and with H120 protection to the north wall. A Temporary refuge (TR) and an Auxiliary Emergency Control Centre were also integrated into the design creating an internal escape route to the lifeboat embarkation area. A high standard of interior fitout was provided using materials specially selected for their durability. The module was fully commissioned onshore. |
| Total Fina Elf 'Dunbar' - Platform Extension |
Consafe were engaged to develop a concept for an extension to the Dunbar Platform and then to design and build it in only 8 months. The existing accommodation was too small and also required significant upgrading. New HVAC plant, water makers, calorifiers, a new galley, refrigerated stores and dining room, an escape stair and a lift were required as well as a 100% increase in the bed capacity. The H120 fire rated six storey facility was assembled from 12 large modular units at Aberdeen Harbour and is blast rated to 1 Bar. It was completed in 2002. |

| ETAP PLQ extension |
Three storey suspended extension to the existing offshore living quarters. This extension was installed in a single lift by offshore floating crane providing an additional 24 bedspaces. The ingenious solution was devised to minimise the operational impact on the platform. Completed in 2002. |

| ETAP Living Quarters (BP) |
The Eastern Trough Area Project (ETAP) is a project linking seven oil and gas fields located in the UK Central North Sea. Consafe was selected to join the BP Etap Alliance to design and build the accommodation for 85 personnel and the helideck (EH101 type).
The LQ was developed as 36 modules that were purpose designed and constructed in Consafe’s Aberdeen factory, (an approach that allows delivery to almost any destination). After testing and being commissioned the modules were delivered by road to the Kvaerner fabrication yard at Methil, Fife. There they were marshalled ready for assembly together on the topsides deck structure like gigantic building blocks - into a seven storey quarters and helideck. When assembled and welded together the structure of all the modules combines to act together forming a lightweight and robust building which comfortably supports the helideck loadings and the transportation forces. The remaining commissioning scope was fully completed and the LQ was occupied and operational for 3 months before sailaway. The interior design was also done by Consafe with input from the final occupants and provides a lively and contemporary yet relaxing ‘home from home’.
Immediately below the LQ, and seamlessly integrated with it, are the topsides control and utility areas which Consafe also designed for the Alliance to minimise any risk at this interface. NB Consafe was subsequently awarded a project to extend this LQ and developed an innovative suspended design. (See separate project entry above) |
| Conoco Viking LQ Extension |
Conoco, the owners of the North Sea's Viking Field, decided to extend their LQ facility (originally built by Consafe ten years previously) and this time engaged Consafe to design, construct and install a large extension and new helideck area using only the platform crane - and without requiring to shutdown any existing operations. Areas such as the galley food storage areas were replaced within the new scope thereby allowing the existing area to be refurbished for alternative uses without impacting the continuous operation of the facility. The project was completed in 2000. |
